What makes you feel excluded in surf culture?
For this episode, we asked you to confess: “What makes you feel excluded in surf culture?” Within minutes of posing this question, we got dozens of confessions with responses ranging from localism, ageism to male-dominated lineups. Your responses were unique but there were so many consistent themes. In this episode we have with us, special guest Brianna Ortega, the founder of Sea together Magazine. She shares with us, how her past autoimmune disease affected her life and surfing, tells us what makes her feel excluded in surf culture, and explains how she used that as an opportunity to create Sea Together Magazine a print magazine uniting and rewriting women’s surfing through creativity and community.
