With the help of her adorable Mother, Cecily had the strength to hold onto her seat as the middle child in an Irish family of 13, eleven girls and two boys. She was a fantastic street fighter on Manchester’s tough council estates, something that stood her in good stead for when she lived as an ’out’ lesbian in the 1970’s .
